Subtopic : Adjectives
General Objective : Students will be able to understand how to use adjectives correctly in describing things or people.
Specific Objectives : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Provide at least 5 correct and suitable adjectives for every picture shown on the modern and traditional devices in groups of 4.
2. Construct at least 3 out of 5 correct sentences using the adjectives that have been listed down in the previous activity individually.
3. Identify and match at least 4 out of 8 correct characteristics that are used to describe the older generation and younger generation individually.

1. A video clip on the summary of the whole poem.

5. LCD projector, Marker Pens, Whiteboard
Previous Knowledge : Students have already learnt about the detailed analysis of the poem and the different types of adjectives in the previous lessons.

Set Induction (5 Minutes)
Rationales:
1. To arouse the students’ attention through the use of video.
2. To access the students’ previous knowledge.
3. To prepare them for the lesson and predict the topic of the lesson.

1. Students greet teacher and teacher asks students to sit down.
2. Teacher plays a video clip on the summary of the poem to get the students to recall what they have learnt in the previous lesson.
3. Students sit back and watch the video.
4. Teacher asks what they can understand from the video and asks them to name few pictures of objects shown in the video. Teacher also asks what kind of part of speech that can be used to describe things or people.
5. Students respond to teacher’s question and guess the topic of the lesson.

Development:
Activity 1 (45 Minutes)
Rationales:
1. As an enrichment activity that allows the students to apply their knowledge on adjectives which have already been taught in the previous lesson.
2. The use of pictures will attract the students’ attention and caters for those students who are visual type of learners.
3. This activity is done in groups to reduce the level of anxiety and to improve the students’ communication or oral skills.

1. Teacher explains briefly on what is the poem about to allow the students’ to recall about their understanding on the poem.
2. Students ask questions.
3. Teacher divides the class into 4 groups.
4. Students sit in their own groups with minimal noise.
5. Teacher distributes Task sheet 1 to each group which contains 2 pictures of modern devices and another 2 pictures on traditional devices and after that asks every group to list down 5 suitable adjectives describing their respective pictures in the space provided.
6. Teacher gives 15 minutes for the students to complete the task.
7. Students discuss and brainstorm ideas in their respective groups.
8. Teacher facilitates every group to ensure that everyone is participating in the discussion.
9. After the time is up, teacher asks each group to share with the class about their respective pictures with the adjectives that have been listed down.
10. Teacher distributes Task Sheet 2 to each student and asks them to construct 5 sentences using the 5 adjectives that they have identified in their respective pictures individually.
11. Students complete the task sheet individually and submit to the teacher after the time is up.

Activity 2 (20 minutes)
Rationales:
1. Improve the students’ critical thinking skills as they need to identify the correct and relevant characteristics describing the older generation and younger generation.
2. Enhance the students understanding of the poem by doing consolidation exercise.
3. Enable the students to compare and contrast between older and younger generation.
4. Allows the students to relate their own personal experience.

1. Teacher asks students to be prepared for the next activity.
2. Teacher distributes Task sheet 3 to each student. This task sheet requires the students to identify and match 8 correct characteristics that are used to describe the older generation and younger generations individually.
3. Students complete the task individually within 10 minutes.
4. After the time is up, teacher discusses the answers with the students and at the same time generates discussion on the older generation versus younger generation.

1. Using social closure-To give an advanced task to the students which need to be presented in the upcoming lesson.
2. Allow the students to share about their feelings and opinions about the lesson.
3. Allow the students to evaluate their own performance throughout the lesson.

1. Teacher asks students to find song lyrics on family ties and they need to underline all the adjectives found in the song. This task will be done in groups of four and will be presented in the next lesson.
2. Teacher asks students what they have learnt from the lesson.
3. Students respond to teacher’s question.
4. Teacher recaps and ends the lesson.
